DMA-AERO And DAC International Introduce A New Revolutionary Multi-Port RVSM Air Data Test Set

DMA-AERO And DAC International Introduce A New Revolutionary Multi-Port RVSM Air Data Test Set

DMA-Aero recently announced the release of its new RVSM compliant MPS49 Air Data Test Set which is applicable for all types of civil and extended range, fixed or rotary wing aircraft.

The MPS49 has three independent channels for Altitude, Airspeed and Angle of Attack and is RVSM compliant with a recommended calibration cycle of up to 18 months, thus reducing maintenance costs. Calibration is performed via the instrument’s keypad or touch screen and is fast and simple since no mechanical adjustments are required. And while DMA has produced three-channel angle of attack test sets for more than 15 years this Air Data Set is different.

“The MPS49 is not only compact like its predecessors but it offers something unique,” said President of DMA-Aero Robert Knowles. “This product features an exclusive isolation function for multiple PS, PT and AoA ports with automatic line switching to generate independent calibration and leak testing for each ‘Smart’ probe.”

Additional features include a 5000 hr. warranty on the internal pump, USB port, Encoding Altimeter option, and wireless, Bluetooth and GPIB interfaces all covered by a standard two- year warranty.

DAC International is DMA’s United States distributor for its Air Data Test Sets.

Malaysia Airlines achieves Tech Transformation in record time; Ramco Aviation Suite replaces 9 legacy Engineering systems for Group-wide operations

Deploys new-age IT system to cut wastage, improve efficiency and reduce aircraft on-ground time

  • Platform to support more than 145 aircraft in multiple locations implemented in 11months

  • Widens MAS’ ability to offer third-party MRO from its existing hangar which opens up new stream of business
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/ Chennai, India – April 23, 2015 – Malaysia Airlines announced today that it has deployed a full suite of aviation solutions by Ramco Systems (Ramco) to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (“MRO”) support for over 145 aircraft. The Go-Live deployment of the Ramco Systems solution was achieved in a record time of 11 months.

From Day 1 of the system implementation, the solution equips some 300 Malaysia Airlines engineers in systemwide to access a future-ready enterprise software that allows them to automate or streamline many engineering functions, simplify compliance checks, and improve inventory management and hangar maintenance.

By using bar code-enabled features and automation, the national carrier of Malaysia is now able to dramatically reduce time taken to move spares from suppliers to warehouses and hangars worldwide.

The process will further improve efficiency and enable continuous airworthiness, thereby reducing aircraft on-ground (AOG) time.

Billing and compliance with multiple regulator functions will enable Malaysia Airlines to improve efficiency and scale-up its MRO business to address third-party airlines worldwide.

By July 2015, another 800 airline engineering and operational staff will be connected to the Ramco platform, which Malaysia Airlines has opted for after years of using a legacy system.

Ramco beat big-name ERP vendors to secure the prestigious contract in March 2013, its single-largest win that year.

Implementation began in March 2014 as Malaysia Airlines and Ramco teams worked hard to launch a secure Go-Live, a record for a major carrier.

Mr. Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, Group CEO, Malaysia Airlines, said, “We made a major decision to migrate from a legacy system to Ramco’s integrated platform. Not only did we set a record time for implementation; we are also now able to reap exceptional benefits and transform our engineering solutions across multiple locations.”

“The net effect is a dramatic improvement in engineering efficiency, optimised fleet management, and reduction in aircraft on-ground time,” he added.

Mr. Virender Aggarwal, CEO, Ramco Systems, said, “We are extremely happy to witness a record time go-live of a strategic implementation at Malaysia Airlines. Our teams defied great odds to achieve the impossible for a landmark project of great importance for both sides. We thank Malaysia Airlines for their faith in Ramco as a trusted partner.”

Ramco’s suite includes solutions for maintenance and engineering, procurement, advanced planning and optimisation, advanced reliability and Loadable Software Aircraft Parts. The platform can be installed on-site or through the cloud, with a flexibility that enables Malaysia Airlines to accommodate more business operations and integrate with existing IT systems for other functions.

UTC Aerospace Systems To Resell SITA OnAir’s AIRCOM®Connect As Part Of Its Electronic Flight Bag Solution

UTC Aerospace Systems To Resell SITA OnAir’s AIRCOM®Connect As Part Of Its Electronic Flight Bag Solution

Geneva, 20 April 2015 – SITA OnAir and UTC Aerospace Systems have launched AIRCOM®Connect, the new Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) software solution. Two airlines will deploy the solution this summer.

AIRCOM®Connect is a standard plug and play offering, meaning EFB applications can now access ACARS narrowband connectivity for all phases of a flight. This new messaging capability means airlines experience the many benefits of ubiquitous ACARS, including:

    • Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) messaging, for example to initiate performance calculation requests to be performed by the ground systems, with the result being displayed on the flight deck devices
    • Enhanced route optimization and reduced detours thanks to real-time weather updates – on the ground and in the air – sent direct to the EFB tablets
    • Free text messaging between dispatchers, maintenance engineering and flight crews, enabling effective defect troubleshooting during flight
    • Downloading automated reports, such as exceedance and cruise reports
    • Dispatch data reports, including:

-Dispatchers up-linking automated messages that contain updated METAR and TAF information
-Flight crew requesting ramp service requirements during approach to destination airport

SITA OnAir partnered with UTC Aerospace Systems and deployed the software solution on all of the UTC Aerospace Systems EFB hardware platforms. They also included its latest tablet-interface device (TIM™) which connects to and leverages the UTC Aerospace Systems Aircraft Interface Device (AID) features.

Ian Dawkins, CEO of SITA OnAir, said: “We have a history of collaborating with UTC Aerospace Systems to bring our customers innovative solutions. By combining the UTC Aerospace Systems hardware with the AIRCOM®Connect software, we can offer our customers the exact functionality they desire for their EFB solutions. Increasingly, those EFB solutions are tablet based.”

Jim Tuitt, manager of business development for aircraft data management at UTC Aerospace Systems said “The UTC Aerospace Systems tablet EFB, in combination with the SITA OnAir AIRCOM®Connect software, enables an airline to maximize the benefits of paperless operations. We look forward to applying our extensive experiences together in developing and supporting EFB systems worldwide and to help airlines implement value added solutions.”

AIRCOM®Connect gives airlines the choice of two messaging service options. The first is standard ACARS, which while constrained by message size limitations is compatible with any ACARS ground host processors and with most ACARS routers.

The second option is AEEC 841 Media Independent Aircraft Messaging (MIAM) over ACARS. This overcomes the ACARS size limitations, enabling third party applications to transmit large messages over any networks, including VHF, VDL Mode 2, Iridium and Inmarsat.

UTC Aerospace Systems has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for AIRCOM®Connect to be used on their EFB hardware platforms on a range of commercial aircraft types.
