Simpfly Escape Routes enhances safety of Ayit Aviation and Tourism and Jordan Aviation operations

Simpfly has been selected, through its partnership with 3Green Aero, to provide Escape Routes to two new customers in the Middle East: Ayit Aviation and Tourism, and Jordan Aviation.

If an airplane experiences an engine failure or a loss of pressurization during cruise (in-flight), consequently loss of altitude occurs, which can be a potential issue on mountainous areas, so a study of these scenarios must be conducted prior to operating new routes over these areas and, in case of constraints, to be published as escape route (following driftdown and depressurization procedures).

Simpfly offers the design of escape routes to cope with operator’s local regulation and standard procedures, including periodic revision of procedures due to Navigation data changes to make sure crew has always access to up-to-date charts.

For airlines and operators that do not require a full support through Simpfly EFB Omni™ solution, but still need ad hoc support on Aircraft Performance services, Simpfly provides a comprehensive range of specialized studies as part of the Specialists On Demand service.

US Navy selects Lockheed Martin and IFS to deliver intelligent ship and aircraft maintenance

May 13, 2021 – The US Navy has turned to global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin and enterprise applications company IFS to deliver an intelligent maintenance solution that will help power its digital transformation of multiple legacy systems into a single, fully modernised and responsive logistics information system. The solution will ensure personnel spend more time focused on the mission and less on aircraft and ship repairs.

The IFS solution comprises capabilities for planning and executing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of more than 3,000 assets including aircraft, ships, and land-based equipment. The Naval Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (N-MRO) solution combines artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin capabilities and predictive analytics to anticipate and react to potential equipment failures before they happen, which will contribute to the enhanced support of maintenance, supply logistics, real-time fleet management and other business functions for more than 200,000 sailors.

Following a comprehensive and competitive evaluation process, the US Navy selected Lockheed Martin together with IFS’s acclaimed industry-specific functionality already used by some of the world’s largest aerospace and defence (A&D) organisations. With the added support of software developer Beast Code, the solution will initially be fielded at multiple US Navy sites to help sailors and Marine Corps maintainers break down operational silos and work towards a common maintenance workflow across all ship and aircraft platforms.

The digital transformation of the US Navy’s maintenance systems will see a consolidation of assets and parts data in a central repository visualised to the users through an intuitive, mobile-friendly experience. This initiative will lead to increased data accuracy, streamlined workflows and ultimately less asset downtime and fewer unscheduled maintenance events. Enabling Total Asset Readiness® through N-MRO will ensure information is always readily available to help the US Navy achieve its desired materiel readiness and operational availability objectives. For instance, Navy personnel will be empowered to document faults, request parts, and report work completion at the point of maintenance, thereby reducing asset downtime while increasing data accuracy as an enabler of enhanced planning and procurement.

“Our goal is to provide capabilities that create real value across the Navy’s complex, multi-site operations and optimise its mission-critical maintenance processes,” said Reeves Valentine, Lockheed Martin Vice President of Enterprise Sustainment Solutions. “We want to empower Navy personnel with tools that are easy and effective to use with intuitive interfaces, streamlined workflows and timesaving, intelligent features. IFS distinguished itself by providing all of these capabilities through a single, commercial-off-the-shelf solution.”

Scott Helmer, President, Aerospace & Defence, IFS, added, “We are proud to be part of N-MRO, which will set a new global standard for Total Asset Readiness and the way defence organisations manage asset maintenance and logistics, both ashore and afloat. A&D has been a key focus industry at IFS for decades and this landmark deal stands as testament to the success of our long-term strategy and determination. Working with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy, we are already making great strides and look forward to a long and successful collaboration.”

AeroLogic relies on AviationDW

Airlines, like almost every other industry, are more and more facing the problem of being flooded with data. The challenge is to make this data accessible for the ongoing improvement processes. With CrossConsense, Aerologic now found a partner who will support the cargo airline in bringing additional structure to the mass of data that can be drawn from AeroLogic’s MRO backend system AMOS. AeroLogic already uses standard off-the-shelf BI tools and has simply attached AviationDW as an additional data source. Behind the scenes, the AviationDW data transformation jobs are running to prepare raw backend MRO system data for easy access. Data is exported by AMOS and sent to AviationDW. The full control over all data export activity stays with AeroLogic.

AeroLogic signed a contract with CrossConsense not only for the data ingestion process provisioning but also for hosting of the data warehouse and support provided by CrossConsense. As AeroLogic already is an AMOS Support Customer of CrossConsense the partnership between the two companies is of mutual benefit because the cargo airline will also support CrossConsense to further develop the functionalities of AviationDW.

About CrossConsense: “Since being established in 2002, we basically think from the perspective of the user. We are not pure IT geeks, and it is exactly that which characterizes our services and products. Thus, we distinguish ourselves from most of the specialists for the implementation of solutions. We can’t do otherwise, because in the DNA of CrossConsense are many years of experience in Airlines, in the area of procurement, engineering and maintenance. We know your job as if it were ours. And THAT you will feel immediately!” CrossConsense’s portfolio stretches from AMOS Support, BI-Management, Data Migration and Hosting to the products Aircraft Fleet View (app that that gives you an always up-to-date view on your airline’s fleet status), ACSIS (tool for predictive maintenance) and AviationDW (tool that supports airlines to get an overview over all KPIs the airline is interested in).

About AeroLogic: AeroLogic is a German cargo airline based in Schkeuditz near Leipzig. It is a joint-venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo which operates scheduled international and long-haul cargo services out of its hubs Leipzig/Halle Airport and Frankfurt Airport. The company was founded September 2007. Both of Aerologic’s shareholders are the company’s customers at the same time thus making use of the capacities of the air freighters. Aerologic started commercial operation in 2009 with a fleet of 8 Boeing 777 freighter. In the meantime AeroLogic operates a fleet of 18 777 Freighter.

ACSIS– the perfect collaborative workspace tool for troubleshooters

During the next couple of months business in the aviation industry will slowly recover. But there will be long-time changes for the whole industry.

A lot of the airline troubleshooters right now are working remotely and are no longer sitting next to each other to be able to discuss problems “on the fly”. And we predict that this will continue in the future as more and more people see advantages for working remotely with regards to their work-life balance.

The question is, if it is possible for airline troubleshooters to stay at home even if the pandemic is over. We would say, Yes. If they have the right tool to do their work as reliably as if they were in the office.

ACSIS is a software for predictive and preventive maintenance and can perfectly support troubleshooters to detect current and predict future problems of aircraft regardless of whether they are in the office or working at home.

ACSIS monitors all systems defects in real-time and analyzes data from pilot and maintenance reports. All the data are processed into clear graphs so that the problem(s) can be identified at a glance. As soon as a problem is recurring, an automatic alert is sent to the responsible person and he/she can immediately start to further analyze the problem. Following this, AOGs can be avoided because it is possible to visualize the AC / fleet status in one single diagram and recognize immediately if it is a single tail sign or a fleet problem.

With the ACSIS delay probability tool the probability for a delay due to a certain problem on a specific aircraft to happen during/prior the next flight can be calculated so that maintenance teams can be prepared with tools, materials, and personnel before it comes to a delay or even an AOG. It uses sophisticated algorithms which are far more accurate than standard alert levels per ATA and it provides comprehensive reports for engineering and CAA at a click of a button.

Examples of graphs:

The main overview on alerts (here in light mode) shows the date, the aircraft, the ATA-chapter, the message, the delay probability and the alert status of an item so that you have a quick overview over the status of your fleet.

The “start investigation” screen (here in dark mode) shows the outliers in day-to-day business which are worth to have a closer look in order to find out what kind of problem the fleet / the tail sign / the AC is facing.

ACSIS provides now more features like for example a full list of all scheduled and unscheduled component removals for a specific problem at the click of a button and collaborative workspace enhancements like fields where engineers and troubleshooters can exchange information.

Once the pandemic is over or at least under control, airlines might need to attract new employees. Be assured that those will have an advantage that are able to offer a hybrid working model for troubleshooters in which ACSIS can play a major role.

About CrossConsense: “Since being established in 2002, we basically think from the perspective of the user.
