- TAP is the 10th Star Alliance member to opt for the network planning solution from Lufthansa Systems
- NetLine/Plan was chosen for its unmatched speed and ability to simulate market changes
- The network planning tool is a Software-as-a-Service solution and is hosted in the Global Aviation Cloud from Lufthansa Systems
Raunheim, 25th March 2025. Lufthansa Systems announced that TAP Air Portugal (TAP) selected its network planning solution NetLine/Plan. TAP is the 10th Star Alliance carrier to choose the network planning solution from Lufthansa Systems. They opted for NetLine/Plan because of its accuracy, unmatched speed in adapting network planning to the needs of this dynamic industry, and ability to simulate market changes. And all that is tailored to their specific network reality. NetLine/Plan will be delivered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution hosted in the Global Aviation Cloud (GAC).
“Forecasting future scenarios with the best accuracy possible is key for us. With NetLine/Plan, we can comprehensively evaluate the network and find the best solutions within different competitive and market contexts. It allows us to evaluate new route launches, schedule changes, airline hub optimizations, and partnership changes in different future time frames, and other long-term plans,” explained Mario Cruz, Chief Commercial & Revenue Officer, TAP Air Portugal.
Developed in collaboration with many network airlines worldwide, the industry-leading network planning tool from Lufthansa Systems addresses the toughest network planning challenges the airlines face. NetLine/Plan enables TAP to maximize profitability across its entire schedule by helping it make intelligent network planning decisions with unmatched speed, accuracy, and transparency. While other tools take several minutes or even hours to deliver network planning results, NetLine/Plan can perform a complete O&D-based network evaluation in less than 30 seconds. This allows TAP to work more efficiently and evaluate multiple network scenarios. In addition, sophisticated proprietary models and data allow NetLine/Plan to forecast profitability with the accuracy and consistency that is required in today’s rapidly changing airline industry.
“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with TAP and add an important solution to their implemented portfolio of our NetLine and Lido solutions. NetLine/Plan will help them by evaluating potential schedule changes in the form of business cases while balancing commercial realities and operational constraints. These business cases include new destinations, frequency and time changes, aircraft up and down-gauges, as well as partnership scenarios with codeshare or alliance partners. Today, more than 20 airlines and aircraft manufacturers from around the world rely on NetLine/Plan for their network planning business cases,” added Jan-Peter Gaense, Head of NetLine at Lufthansa Systems.
