Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 4th March 2021) to see how to take Fuel Efficiency to the next level via a full overview and demo of OptiFlight, the new solution from Safety Line which brings data science to the cockpit. As you will see OptiFlight leverages historical flight data, and uses Machine Learning to build tail specific performance models for each aircraft in the fleet, to predict fuel consumption in different scenarios and make recommendations to pilots for proactive fuel saving actions in all phases of flight: climb, cruise, and descent. During the Webinar, Safety Line experts will take you on a demo of OptiFlight, for a typical flight, from a pilot’s perspective. You will see how, prior to each flight, the solution combines the tail specific performance models with the flight plan and the 4D weather forecasts to predict fuel burn in tens of thousands of scenarios for each flight phase, before sending the best recommendations for that specific flight to the pilots, either via the briefing package or integrated directly into existing pilots’ Apps for use in-flight.
The Webinar begins with an overview of Safety Line and the OptiFlight solution. Safety Line experts then look at current tools to monitor fuel efficiency best practices, which measure pilot application rates and savings after the flight, and outline how to achieve lower emissions using OptiFlight’s in-flight guidance tools in the cockpit to enable pilots to take every opportunity for fuel savings in each flight phase, through delivering the right information to pilots at the right time. Next you will see a full demo of OptiFlight from a pilot’s perspective covering all phases of flight. Beginning with climb-out, you will see how OptiFlight utilizes Safety Line’s popular OptiClimb solution to provide pilots with customized climb speed changes at different altitudes. Next, the cruise phase in which OptiFlight providing pilots with recommendations for speed to enable on-time arrival at the best fuel/time ratio, shortcuts the pilots can request from ATC based on historical tracks flown, and cruise level changes taking winds into account. Then, for descent, the solution assists pilots to better anticipate Distance to Go based on historical approach patterns. Finally, you will see how OptiFlight can integrate with paper briefing packages, or with multiple third party or in-house EFB solutions and Apps, such as the eWAS pilot weather App or navigation Apps, ensuring pilots only need to use their existing Apps in-flight.
The Webinar is divided into four key sections:
- Introduction to Safety Line and Overview of OptiFlight Solutions:
The Webinar begins with a brief look at Safety Line and a full overview of OptiFlight, focusing on how the solution functions leveraging historical flight data and using Machine Learning to build tail specific performance models for each aircraft in the fleet, combined with the flight plan and 4D weather forecasts, to predict fuel consumption in 1000s of different scenarios for each flight. And how OptiFlight takes Fuel Efficiency to the next level providing in-flight recommendations to pilots for proactive fuel saving actions in all phases of flight: climb, cruise, and descent.
- OptiFlight Pilot Demo 1: Climb-Out:
Next you will see a demo of OptiFlight from a Pilot’s perspective beginning with the Climb-Out phase which utilizes Safety Line’s popular OptiClimb solution. As you will see OptiClimb predicts fuel burn of for tens of thousands of possible flight scenarios using the performance models and 4D weather forecasts, and then issues recommended climb speeds to pilots ahead of each flight to save significant amounts of fuel and reduce emissions.
- OptiFlight Pilot Demo 2: Cruise and Descent:
Next the pilot demo moves to the cruise and descent phases. Again, OptiFlight combines a number of different solutions to provide pilots with fuel saving recommendations at every opportunity:
– OptiSpeed: Shows pilots the fuel and time impact of Mach variations to enable on-time arrival at the best possible fuel/time ratio.
– OptiDirect: Recommends shortcuts the pilots can request from ATC based on historical tracks flow, with an indication of fuel and time savings taking into account the wind and temperature forecasts for the flight.
– OptiLevel: Advises pilots on the best initial flight level potential and cruise level changes taking winds into account.
– OptiDescent: Helps pilots better anticipate on Distance to Go based on Machine Learning of historical approach patterns.
- OptiFlight Integrations and Example Fuel Savings:
Lastly Safety Line outline OptiFlight’s easy integration process, integrating with existing Apps and solutions. You will see how OptiFlight can integrate with paper briefing packages, or with multiple third party or in-house EFB Apps and solutions such as the eWAS pilot weather app or navigation apps. OptiFlight can even use emails sent to pilots, and Satefy Line are constantly adapting to different solutions airlines are using in the flight deck in order to ensure OptiFlight recommendations are sent to the pilots in the right place at the right time. Finally, you will see some fuel savings examples from airlines who are using the OptiFlight solution.
About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:
Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.
The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.
Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Ops software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Ops IT Vendors.
