*This webinar is for airlines and aircraft operators only.
Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 29th February 2024) to see a demo of SITA Mission Watch, the new next-generation flight tracking solution from SITA. The solution offers integrated flight plans; real-time multi-sourced weather data, including advanced 4D forecasting capabilities with the functionality to track severe weather events such as Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) en-route; ICAO GADSS compliant real-time tracking; automated and customizable 24/7 alert tracking; detailed post-flight analysis; and more. You will see how SITA Mission Watch provides dispatch and operational personnel with the tools and data needed to improve safety and efficiency through making better-informed decisions and staying one-step ahead of changing conditions, while ensuring a swift response to potential hazards en-route. During the Webinar SITA experts will demo real-world flight examples, showcasing Mission Watch’s key features. You will see how dispatch can follow an individual flight or track an entire fleet using advanced world and airport maps, tracking real-time aircraft positions; be alerted to live weather and wind, planned versus reported fuel remaining on-board, alternate route plotting, airport traffic on the tarmac and estimated potential delays; monitor fuel consumption in real-time; send and receive ACARS messages; compare OOOI times and delays, and more. Additionally, the availability of historical data after each flight enables continuous improvement in operational performance through thorough analysis of delays, diversions, fuel burn, etc.
The Webinar begins with a look at the challenges facing aviation, with weather uncertainty a major concern. Adverse weather is increasing, both in intensity and frequency; and overall global weather patterns are becoming more extreme, with record warm and cold temperatures across the world. Furthermore, significant turbulence incidents are more frequent, plus the increasing severity of Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) exacerbates these issues. Traditionally, Pilots must rely on charts that display weather information requiring a lot of effort on their part, to visualize weather conditions across the duration of their flight plan. As you will see, in response to these challenges, SITA Mission Watch has been developed to offer a solution that maintains operational excellence, whatever the weather, providing real-time, multi-sourced weather data, including advanced 4D forecasting capabilities. Overall, SITA Mission Watch addresses the pressing issues facing aviation by enhancing weather awareness, compliance, and decision-making capabilities, thus promoting safer and more efficient flight operations.
The Webinar is divided into the following 6 key sections:
- Industry Challenges and SITA Mission Watch Overview:
First you will see an overview of changing climate conditions and increasing numbers of adverse weather events, including Clear Air Turbulence (CAT), and how they impact commercial flying. Then, you will see the capabilities of SITA Mission Watch to address the issue of weather with 4D forecasts and an awareness that enables dispatchers to better plan ahead and pilots to be aware of conditions along their planned route for better informed decision making.
- SITA Mission Watch Demo 1 – Key Functionality: Tracking
Next you will see demos of SITA Mission Watch focusing on the key functionality. As you will see, SITA Mission Watch is a comprehensive flight tracking tool, you will see how it displays real-time aircraft positions from various sources like Terrestrial/VHF ADS-B, Space ADS-B, ACARS, and ADS-C, making it suitable for all airlines with any fleet and on-board connectivity; plus conforming to the ICAO GADSS Flight Tracking mandate.
- SITA Mission Watch Demo 2 – Key Functionality: Monitoring
Then you will see the extensive monitoring capabilities through displaying a map with aircraft and airports and then adding weather information sourced from multiple channels, including 4D forecasting capabilities with the functionality to track severe weather events such as Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) en-route. You will see how dispatch and pilots can monitor weather conditions as they evolve, for multiple selected flights, and can view the expected position of aircraft across the flight duration and map the corresponding weather conditions.
You will also see the extensive airport monitoring capabilities including real-time congestion and disruption prediction with estimates and forecasts such as: taxi-out time, runway arrival time, taxi-in, gate-in, and more. You will also see the extensive 24/7 alerts engine which automatically tracks changes in weather and aircraft conditions and alerts key duty personnel when these conditions have passed.
- SITA Mission Watch Demo 3 – Key Functionality: Planning
After that you will see how Mission Watch integrates with flight planning systems to utilize operational flight plans (OFPs) for flight information, including details on position logs, flight paths, and deviations from the plan. Dispatch can track the flown path vs OFP and ATC cleared routes.
- SITA Mission Watch Demo 4 – Key Functionality: Summary & Analysis
Following that you will see the SUMMARY tab within SITA Mission Watch to explain fields sourced from OFPs, including actual times derived from OOOI messages, and highlight features such as the latest position and fuel reported versus planned fuel in the LATEST POSITION section of the App. You will also see how to send and receive ACARS messages and monitor fuel consumption in real-time.
- SITA Mission Watch Demo 5 – Key Functionality: Alternate Monitoring
Finally the SITA team will show the display of alternates, emphasizing their monitoring at the estimated time of use, and note the color-coded indications of weather conditions. Additionally, you will see the change in the number of airports displayed when selecting a flight compared to not selecting one.
You will see how to define an alternative route using the in-app tools, taking full advantage of the 4D weather display; add auxiliary routes, Eurocontrol and FAA routes; plus, auto-generated text routes allow users to copy and paste updates to the flight planning system.
About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:
Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.
The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.
Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Operations software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Operations IT Vendors.
