Webinar Overview

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 13th February 2025) and see how to securely manage and auto-update all mobile devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets) used by key staff companywide (mechanics on the line and in the hangar, flight crew, ground services, etc) with the next-gen Smart Kiosk from M3 Solutions, as used worldwide by airlines, operators, and MROs such as Air Canada. With airlines and MROs around the world embarking on digital transformation projects, mobile devices are now crucial to carrying out work. During the Webinar, M3 Solutions experts will walk you through workflow use cases for M&E, Flight Ops and Ground Crew, showcasing how the M3 solutions Kiosk ensures up-to-date and always ready-to-use mobile devices.  You will see how the solution offers so much more than a secure charging station, with device tracking using barcode and RFID technology; and how, crucially, the IT team can use the Kiosk’s advanced features to ensure that each device, when docked in the Kiosk, is automatically integrated into the company’s unique IT ecosystem and synchronized with the latest key documentation and data appropriate to the device user, such as OEM technical publications and company manuals; software and App updates including from M&E and Flight Ops software vendors (Trax, Boeing, Smart4Aviation, etc.); and even operating systems such as a new iOS or Android version are auto-updated. Additionally, IT Teams can push any data or alerts to each device through the Kiosk, and full compliance is ensured through only releasing the device from the Kiosk once it has received all the critical content such as the latest Technical Publications or Flight Manual.  Additionally, the kiosk can wipe clean the device after usage, so devices can be easily switched between roles or departments.

The Webinar begins with an overview of evolving digital transformation projects and their impact on the sector, followed by an introduction to M3 and how the M3 solution meets the need for crucial mobile devices to be integrated into the airline’s IT ecosystem, by linking devices to the back office while they are in the Kiosk. You will see how automating content deployment for technical publications, maintenance documentation, applications and operating systems can eliminate bottlenecks and improve the bottom line.

The Webinar is divided into the following five key sections:

  • Aviation Digital Challenges: Growing Number of Devices and Digital Content
The webinar will open with M3 experts giving an overview of the changing business environment across all airline activities, with digital documentation and paperless processes becoming ubiquitous in every part of the business if airlines wish to remain competitive and safe. They will discuss how, with increasing digitalization, the role for a growing fleet of mobile devices has become ever more central to safe and reliable operations throughout the business. They will also address how M3 meets the need for mobile devices to be integrated into the airline’s IT ecosystem, by linking devices to the back office while they are in the Kiosk, and how the solution meets the challenge of maintaining consistent device management. You will see how a key advantage of M3 is the software team dedicated to integration of software on devices and back-end systems. While different departments have differing priorities and processes for which they use their devices, you will see how M3’s management of mobile devices manages to unify all these diverse needs under a single manageable framework ensuring efficiency, security, accessibility, consistency between devices and compliance.

  • M3 Solutions Smart Mobile Device Management Kiosk – Overview
You will then be introduced to M3 Solutions’ products that are helping customers to manage their mobile devices in the Aerospace sector and the Military. The team will explain how M3 has always worked with MRO divisions and businesses, and is now finding its services increasingly applicable for Flight Ops and crew (flight deck and cabin), ground services and more, where mobile devices are used for increasing numbers of functions. To explain the benefits that the system offers, you will be shown how M3 works and how the Kiosk securely controls device access through RFID or NFC badges, ensuring that only authorized personnel can check out and use the devices; an extra layer of security and accountability. You will also see how, as well as being fully charged, the devices are automatically synchronized with the latest tech records, data, documents and content appropriate to their business function, while in the Kiosk, using M3’s zero-touch synchronizing; Apps, updates, and tech publications can be automatically pushed to the devices without requiring manual intervention, reducing the risk of human error and of using outdated or incorrect information, plus ensuring consistency across the device fleet.

  • Use Case 1: Smart Mobile Device Management Kiosk – Maintenance Mechanics
For maintenance technicians, the need for rugged, real-time devices is critical. The devices are used to access maintenance logs, diagnostics, work orders, and technical publications.  Mobile devices need to be seamlessly integrated with back-end systems.

As you will see the M3 experts will outline how they have been deploying the Smart Kiosk in maintenance for the past 10 years. They will explain the important need for access control and mobile device tracking for shared devices. You’ll also see the importance of Tech Pub synchronization and how the M3 Kiosk downloads data to serve to devices that need that data. This ensures that, even when connectivity is poor – network blind spot or slow Wi-Fi, users can still work with the latest versions and data.

  • Use Case 2:  Smart Mobile Device Management Kiosk – Flight Crew
Pilots and flight crews rely heavily on mobile devices for real-time flight data, weather updates, scheduling, and passenger information; and also, to support robust and secure communication systems with both ground operations and passengers.

You will see how, in the case of flight crews, devices are typically not shared, so users are responsible for their own devices. But there is still content to manage, which is where M3 can help. These devices are usually mounted in the cockpit during flight, and you will see how M3 is working with partners that have already approved iPad cases like Pivot and ASG to integrate with the Kiosk.

  • Use Case 3:  Smart Mobile Device Management Kiosk – Ground Services
You will learn how the M3 service can be available for Ground Crew to ensure that baggage handling, flight status updates, boarding processes, and maintenance logs for the aircraft are all up-to-date and in synch with flight crew, cabin crew and other stakeholders in ground operations to ensure smooth operations.
